Information for Patients
Booking your initial appointment
Our psychiatrists require a referral from your GP or another medical specialist. This referral is required before an appointment can be booked.
Once the doctors have reviewed your referral, they will assess how best to meet your treatment needs. If your referral is accepted, our admin team will contact you to assist you to book an initial appointment.
Please note: referrals from your GP need to be renewed every 12 months, whilst specialist referrals require renewal after three months. A valid referral is needed to be eligible for a Medicare rebate or DVA funding for appointments.
Appointment fees
We are not a bulk billing practice.
For more information regarding appointment costs, as well as Medicare rebate information, please contact the clinic and our reception staff will be happy to help.
For more in-depth information as to how you might lower your out-of-pocket costs for appointments, please refer to Services Australia - Medicare Safety Net.
Missed appointments/cancellation policy
At our clinic, we value your time and ours. That's why we have a cancellation policy in place to ensure that we can provide timely and efficient care to all our patients. We understand that life can be unpredictable, but we kindly ask that you provide notice by 3pm the day prior to your appointment if you are unable to attend.
Late cancellations can be challenging for our clinic, as we have an extensive list of patients waiting to consult their doctor. When an appointment is cancelled without adequate notice, it leaves limited opportunity for our team to arrange for someone from the waitlist to fill the available slot. Notifying us of a need to cancel by 3pm the day before your scheduled appointment allows enough time for our team to contact people from the waitlist to fill the available slot.
We send SMS reminders to your mobile to help you remember your appointment. Please respond to the SMS to confirm or cancel your appointment.
Our policy is as follows:
Notice to cancel an appointment is required by 3 pm the day before your appointment.
To cancel, you may:
Reply 'cancel' to your SMS appointment reminder
Call reception on (07) 3568 5911
Leave a voicemail or email us at reception@likemindshealth.com.au
Regardless of the method used, notice must still be provided by 3 pm the day before your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.
Missing an appointment without providing notice, or cancelling an appointment late (after 3 pm the day before) will incur a charge equivalent to the full consultation fee. This cannot be claimed back through Medicare and will not be covered by DVA or other third-party insurers.
In the interests of fairness, these fees apply to all patients and cannot be altered by the practice manager, reception staff, and doctors.
We trust that these policies will enhance our ability to provide timely care to our patients, and we are grateful for your understanding and cooperation.
